Golden Spawn (Shrimp Maturation Diet)

Golden Spawn is a complete, semi-moist diet formulated specifically for the maturation of captive shrimp brood stock. Golden Spawn can be used as partial replacement for marine polychaetes, Artemia biomass and other fresh food ingredients. Golden Spawn is irradiated from shrimp viruses (TSV, WSSV, HV, IHHN). Golden Spawn also has an excellent storage life.

Application

Golden Spawn can be fed together with other fresh ingredients such as squid, polychaetes and Artemia Biomass. The use of 1-2% of Golden Spawn (% of the Shrimp biomass) can safely lower the use of polychaetes from 10% down to 5%. Feed 1-2% of the shrimp biomass once a day and as much as the shrimp can consume within 30 minutes from each feeding. Remove or siphon excess feed at least once a day.

Packing and presentation

Packed in 5kg buckets or in 1kg alu-foil bags. Irradiated and sealed. Guaranteed free of pathogens. After breaking the seal, the remaining feed should be consumed within 10 days and kept under refrigeration.

Field results Field trial 1: Golden Spawn was used to replace one of the four meals given to the shrimp broodstock. Shrimps were fed during day with Polychaetes, Artemia Biomass, Squid and Golden Spawn in equal amounts. Average spawning rate was in the range 10 to 15% per day, providing 1,60,000 eggs per female. Egg color and the nauplii viability has been improved.

Field trial 2: In two maturation tanks, Golden Spawn was fed to shrimp once a day in replacement of Polychaetes. Shrimp were still fed Krill, Artemia Biomass and Squid. Spawning rate increased from 8.5% to 10% per day. Two maturation tanks used as control were giving 9% spawning per day. The diets in the control tank and the treatment tank have been switched later. Spawning rate remained at the same level. Golden Spawn successfully replaced bloodworms.

Field trial 3: Golden Spawn was used in replacement of a locally formulated semi-moist feed. Average spawning rates increased from 4% to 6.5%. Polychaetes inclusion was reduced to 10% of the total diet.
