Super Shrimp Hatchery (SSH) realized early the potential for
freshwater scampi aquaculture in India. SSH which is wholly
owned by Mr. Rajesh Khanna, was founded in 1999 as the first
fully advanced freshwater prawn hatchery operation in India.
Its operation base is in Mypadu village near Nellore town
of East Coast of Andhra Pradesh.
SSH
currently operates 4 sales and service branches near farming
locations in Andhra Pradesh, 1 Nellore, 2 Ongole, 3 Bhimavaram
and 4. Kakinada.
The
larvae of tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) is also reared
along with freshwater prawn scampi seed (Macrobrachium rosenbergi).
Super
Shrimp Hatchery is an aquaculture company specialized in
adopting sustainable, Eco-friendly, advanced nutrition and
biotechnological methods for breeding and rearing of premium
quality Macrobrachium rosenbergii (Fresh Water Prawn) seed.
The
seed is marketed primarily in Andhra Pradesh and also in
several other East and West coastal areas across India.
The
Company's vertically integrated approach towards its hatchery
and farmers farm, uses selective breeding and strict
environmental control techniques to produce high health,
disease free Scampi post larvae primarily for sale to farmers
stockings and occasionally to other commercial hatcheries.
In
its constant endeavors towards improving the quality of
its scampi seed, Super Shrimp Hatchery established an advanced
microbiology lab in the hatchery to monitor the bacterial
related problems.
In
1999, to produce high quality shrimp fries, SSH entered
an agreement with world renowned scampi larval nutrition
company, Bern Aqua BVBA, Holland (formerly known as Tesgofarm
Aqua) for providing nutrition formulations and feeds specific
to scampi. Above all, SSH imparting technology to other
local hatcheries such as Maharaja Aquatics, Aqua Nova and
many more.
Albeit,
SSH is, first-of-its-kind hatchery to have many distinctive
competitive advantages over most of scampi hatcheries and
it enables the company to produce the scampi seed of high
quality for any particular customer or market. This concept
contributes positively to the company's bottom line as the
specially scampi seed producer contributing reduced mortality
rates, thus generating cost savings and higher margins to
farmers.
